MEMPHIS

Fiction /  neo folk creature feature 90min

réal : JD Schneider

Simon Sastre, a day laborer in the desert south of Spain, loses his job and his home on the same day. Unable to return to the city at nightfall, he finds refuge in a ruined house by the side of the road. Brutally attacked there by a nightmarish creature, he sets off again the next day as a strange transformation begins to take place within him. A transformation that will soon turn him into a fantasy, a demon, an entity that awakens buried fears. Until he is forced to live in a restricted area... In this territory where time seems to have stopped, the sets of an abandoned film remain, intact for fifty years. Simon settles there as if in an imaginary kingdom, while a child tries to photograph him and the villagers organize a hunt to kill him.

Funny and terrifying, between magical realism and dark folklore, MEMPHIS tells the story of how a man becomes the monster of a region, awakening the fire buried both in the earth and in bodies.
